Does the collective agreement regulate my hourly rate or salary?
The KV gives a minimum wage of 9.21€ gross per hour (as of 2022), it also regulates a 100% night supplement between 22:00 - 5:00; a 50% Sunday supplement and also the 13 & 14 (full-time ~1593€ gross) salary, as well as the compensation of the private mobile phone and private bike (see mileage allowance) when used for work.
Would I have all of this without KV too?
No, without KV, all these bonuses (surcharges, special payments) would exist based on the friendliness of your employer. By way of comparison: Until 2020 (before the first collective agreement came into force), Foodora only paid 7.80€/h without vacation or Christmas pay. As you can see, many companies always want to keep personnel costs low and if they are not so friendly, there would be no special payments, annual increases, allowances or the like.
Does KV regulate anything else?
Yes, it regulates the normal working week to a maximum of 5 days, which makes the 6-day week very unattractive for employers due to the allowances to be paid. In any case, this allows you to enjoy 2 days off! Furthermore, the KV regulates the equipment provided, including special vacation days for special events (moving, wedding), the amount of the mileage allowance and, if we organise ourselves, even more!
Will KV also get better at some point?
The KV is currently being negotiated annually in order to improve conditions and take account of rapid development. The annual wage increase (necessary due to inflation!) It's only thanks to the negotiations. As described above, salaries without KV remained the same for 3 years.
Why is our KV still missing things that are common in other industries? (e.g. risk allowance)
Our KV is still relatively young many KVs exist much longer, but what is even more decisive is the number of union members and the level of organization of the workforce, which is the only way to threaten or even carry out combat measures to put the necessary pressure on the employer side.
I would like to improve my working conditions, can I help with KV?
Yes, of course, there is negotiation together and begging alone, so union membership alone is important for the start, then when negotiations take place (for us autumn) it can happen when they do not make progress that physical actions are necessary, we count on every participant to represent our joint strength.
Are there any concrete goals for improvement at the moment?
In principle, the goals are achieved by the employee representatives, which means that the works council will take suggestions and requests from its workforce and then work them out together across industries, with topics currently focusing on further surcharges, security standards, security of termination or time limits, and more.
